The Bahamas
The banks, the Tongue of the Ocean and Abaco
Shallow banks, blue holes and narrow reef passages made the Bahamas both a shipping route and a wrecking ground, and the islands once lived by salvage.
Reefs off Abaco, Bimini, Eleuthera and the Berry Islands hold wrecks from Spanish vessels to steamers and Civil War blockade runners.
