The Vessel and Her Loss
This Italian-built freighter, previously known as Emmanuelle, was deliberately sunk off the south shore of Grand Bahama in April 2002 to create an artificial reef, settling upright and intact in about 93 feet of water. Two years later, hurricanes Frances and Jeanne tore through the region and broke the hull into separate stern, midsection and bow pieces now scattered across the sea floor, transforming the site into a multi-part wreck dive.
