Narragansett Bay & the Rhode Island Coast
Newport, Block Island Sound and Point Judith
Narragansett Bay and Block Island Sound carried Newport's colonial trade, the Fall River Line steamers and the Long Island Sound passenger fleet.
Fog, ledges off Point Judith and heavy steamer traffic produced repeated collisions and strandings, including the Larchmont disaster of 1907.
