The Vessel and Her Loss
Originally a Louisiana shrimp boat later used as a Hawaii longline fisher, St. Anthony ended up derelict in Honolulu Harbor. Local divers and the Malama Kai Foundation raised funds to clean and tow her to Maui, where she was intentionally sunk off Keawakapu Beach in October 1997 to expand an existing artificial reef. The wreck now hosts resident green sea turtles and is a popular recreational dive.
