The Vessel and Her Loss
Built in 1907 in England for Norwegian owner Wilh. Jebsen, the Selja carried lumber, flour, and general cargo between the Pacific Northwest and East Asia. On November 22, 1910, she collided with the steamer Beaver in fog off Point Reyes and sank. The wreck lay unlocated for over a century until NOAA researchers confirmed her identity during a 2014 sonar survey of the Gulf of the Farallones.
