The Vessel and Her Loss
Princess Anne was a steel coastal passenger steamer running to New York. On 6 February 1920 she went ashore in fog on the bar off Rockaway Point at the harbour entrance. Coast Guard surfmen worked the wreck in heavy sea and took everyone aboard off safely. Efforts to refloat her failed and the surf broke the hull where she lay.
