The Vessel and Her Loss
Built in 1971 by Houma Shipbuilding Co. in Louisiana, the push tug was later renamed Shell Fueler before being sunk off Destin, Florida, in 1997 as an artificial reef. Storms have since flattened some of her upper works, but the hull remains upright in about 60 feet of water, making her a favorite shallow training site for novice divers.
