The Vessel and Her Loss
The Miss Karline, an 85-foot steel-hulled shrimp trawler also known as the Miss Marlene, was intentionally sunk in 1989 as part of the Anchorage Artificial Reef Site north of Government Cut off Miami Beach. Resting in shallow water alongside the Patricia, a police barge, and other small structures, she has developed substantial coral growth over more than three decades. Her shallow depth and cluster of nearby wrecks make her a popular stop for open-water certified divers.
