The Vessel and Her Loss
Originally the coastal freighter Yokamu, the 271-foot steel-hulled vessel was retired from commercial service and purpose-sunk off Orange Beach, Alabama, on May 26, 2013. Renamed LuLu after sponsor Mac McAleer's ex-wife Lucy Buffett, she became Alabama's first whole-ship recreational diving reef, prized for a shallower top structure than the nearby Oriskany.
