The Vessel and Her Loss
Half Moon was built at Kiel in 1908 as Germania, a steel racing schooner for Gustav Krupp von Bohlen und Halbach. Seized by Britain in 1914, she passed through several owners and was renamed Half Moon. In Miami she became a floating fishing barge and sank off Key Biscayne around 1930. She is now a Florida Underwater Archaeological Preserve.
