The Vessel and Her Loss
Cornelia Soule was a three-masted schooner carrying cut granite jetty stone from Maine to Philadelphia when a gale drove her onto Rockaway Shoals on 26 April 1902. Rough seas kept lifesavers from reaching her until the next morning, when the full crew was rescued. Her hull and granite cargo remain a shallow dive site known as the Granite Wreck.
