Bronx Queen
Submarine Chaser, Later Party Fishing Boat · United States · Lost 1989 · Long Island & the New York Approaches
A WWII wooden submarine chaser turned party fishing boat that sank suddenly off Breezy Point in 1989, killing two.

The Vessel and Her Loss
Built in 1942 by Mathis Yacht Building as the Navy subchaser SC-635, the vessel later passed to the Coast Guard and was eventually converted into the charter fishing boat Bronx Queen. On December 20, 1989, she foundered suddenly off Breezy Point, New York, after a structural failure in her modified aft hull. The Coast Guard rescued all 19 aboard, though two later died from exposure and a heart attack.
