The Vessel and Her Loss
Banshee was built as Maple Leaf at Bronte, Ontario, in 1879. The small schooner served in Canadian trade before seizure for a Prohibition violation. Matthew H. Knapp bought and refitted it as a private yacht. It dragged anchor and stranded in a gale in autumn 1924.
