The Vessel and Her Loss
William H. Rounds was launched by Parsons and Humble at Tonawanda in 1875. In early May 1905, a powerful storm drove the schooner onto a rocky reef off Black River. NOAA dates the wreck to May 2 and lists a coal cargo. The crew escaped safely, but the storm made the schooner a total loss.
