The Vessel and Her Loss
Built in 1863, the Thomas Cornell was a well-known Hudson River sidewheel steamboat of the Cornell Line, running between New York and Rondout. In March 1882 she struck the rocks at Danskammer Point above Newburgh at night and was wrecked. Her passengers were taken off, and the hull was afterward stripped where she lay.
