The Vessel and Her Loss
Built in Scotland in 1962, this cargo freighter spent roughly two decades carrying wheat and barley between Norway and the Americas before being laid up in Santo Domingo harbor. Renamed St George after being struck by Hurricane Georges, she was acquired by Club Dominicus and deliberately sunk near Bayahibe on 12 June 1999. She now rests upright as one of the Dominican Republic's most notable deep wreck dives.
