The Vessel and Her Loss
The schooner Omega, bound from Baltimore for Kent Island, anchored in light winds on the southwest side of the Patapsco River on the night of November 16-17, 1865, out of the main shipping channel. Before daylight the steamer Cambridge ran into her and sank her. A federal circuit court later found both vessels partly at fault, faulting Omega for having no proper signal light or lookout posted.
