The Vessel and Her Loss
Rosabelle was built in Milwaukee in 1863 as a two-masted wooden schooner. In late October 1921 she departed High Island for Benton Harbor carrying lumber. She apparently capsized in a gale and was found bottom-up east of Milwaukee, with no trace of her crew. Cumberland towed the drifting hull to Racine, where it was purchased and beached for lumber salvage.
