The Vessel and Her Loss
Wolf and Davidson built the three-masted schooner Resumption at Milwaukee in 1879 for the Ford River Lumber Company. On November 7, 1914, bound from Chicago to Wells, Michigan, for her last lumber of the season, she missed stays while coming about abreast of Plum Island and was driven onto the beach. The tug Torrent, two steamers and the cutter Tuscarora could not free her. All seven crew were saved, and she was stripped and abandoned.
