The Vessel and Her Loss
Originally named Scarlet Ibis, this 185-foot ferry linked Trinidad and Tobago through the 1960s and 1970s. After retirement from service, she was renamed Maverick and deliberately sunk in Buccoo Bay, Tobago, around 1997 to create an artificial reef. She now lies largely intact and hosts abundant marine life.
