The Vessel and Her Loss
The Mimi was a steel German sailing vessel that came ashore on Nehalem Beach in February 1913. A salvage attempt to haul her back into deep water went badly wrong, and the ship was destroyed with loss of life among those working her. Her remains lie buried in the sand and are occasionally exposed.
