The Vessel and Her Loss
Magellan was a three-masted Canadian schooner built at St. Catharines in 1873. Carrying corn toward Toronto, she was lost off Two Rivers on the night of November 8 or morning of November 9, 1877, with her entire crew. A collision was initially suspected but never proved; the institutional account considers storm foundering more likely. Portions of the wreck washed ashore between Two Rivers and Manitowoc.
