The Vessel and Her Loss
Launched in Japan in 1976, Kinta S worked as a Panama-flagged cargo freighter serving Caribbean routes before her retirement. In September 2014, Texas Parks and Wildlife Department sank the 155-foot vessel about eight miles off Mustang Island to enhance the Corpus Christi Nearshore Reef, making her the largest ship added to a Texas reef since the Texas Clipper in 2007.
