The Vessel and Her Loss
Jennibel was launched at Sheboygan in 1863 as a two-masted schooner. It carried wheat and later primarily lumber under Milwaukee owners. On September 17, 1881, a squall capsized it while passing through Death’s Door. The tug John Gregory towed the overturned vessel until it sank southwest of Chambers Island.
