The Vessel and Her Loss
Launched in 1943 in North Vancouver as the Park ship Kitsilano Park, the vessel passed through several names and owners before becoming the gypsum carrier Harry Lundeberg, hauling ore from Isla San Marcos in the Sea of Cortez. On 8 February 1954, approaching Cabo San Lucas, she struck a rock shelf near Land's End and was declared a total loss. Remains are said to lie buried near the shoreline today.
