The Vessel and Her Loss
Carl D. Bradley was a self-unloading limestone carrier built in 1927 for the Michigan Limestone and Chemical Company of Rogers City. On 18 November 1958, running without cargo in a severe storm on northern Lake Michigan, she broke in two and sank. Of 35 crew, only two survived on a life raft. Most of the dead came from Rogers City, a small town hit very hard by the loss.
