The Vessel and Her Loss
Benjamin Noble was a steel bulk freighter built in 1909. In late April 1914 she was bound for Duluth, heavily loaded with steel rails, when she was overwhelmed by a storm near the Minnesota shore. All twenty aboard were lost and no survivor or clear wreckage explained her loss. Her wreck was located in 2004.
