The Vessel and Her Loss
Bannockburn was a British-built steel freighter in Canadian service on the upper lakes. In November 1902 she left Port Arthur with grain and was last sighted on Lake Superior. She never arrived and was lost with all twenty aboard. No confirmed wreck has been found, and she is often called the Flying Dutchman of Lake Superior.
