The Potomac & the Virginia Chesapeake
From Point Lookout to the Washington reaches
The Potomac was a working river of steamboats, schooners and wartime gunboats, and its shallows hold one of the largest concentrations of abandoned vessels in the country.
Civil War operations, steamboat fires and the Mallows Bay ghost fleet left a long record of losses between Point Lookout and the capital.
